Characteristics

British Labs

The British Lab is typically smaller in weight when compared to the American breed.  They generally run in the 40 - 70-pound range depending on the gender of the dog. The majority of British Labs are either black or yellow in color.  Although chocolate is also a color for labs, it is seldom seen in the better British pedigrees or blood lines. The yellows can vary from a cream color to a deep fox red.  British Labs generally are more calm and relaxed than the American breed.  They do not desire nor require much pressure when being trained, therefore a softer hand should be used when handling or training the British breed.  The British Labs exhibit toughness, agility, and the natural instinct for their retrieving abilities that will make the perfect family pet or hunting companion.
